I have two 4 day old kittens. I noticed that every so often, each of them make a coughing noise? They are healthy looking, suckling from their mother, and are in good weight.Could this noise be from hairballs? Or are they too young to get hairballs? What could it be? Please help, need some advice.again.
Answers:
You should take the kitten to the vet if you think it is coughing. Kittens can't really form hairballs that soon. It is possible the kitten might have developed aspiration pneumonia so you need to have it checked. There is a good chance it will die if it does not receive treatment and this is the case.
Waaaay too young for hairballs...not sure why they'd do that.
Are you sure it's not grunting?
Just keep an eye on them- hard to say what it could be, don't know if mama cat is up on shots, dewormed, etc.
Statistically if she's not spayed she hasn't had any preventative care either.
