I really want a pet Tarantula, but I need to know more about them for my own sake and to help convince my parents that they make good pets.. What can I tell them?

I'll be honest with you- I'm not a big fan of huge spiders (any spider for that matter) but they can make interesting pets. In my 8 years of pet-store management I found 2 species that were calmer and easier to handle than others and were more suitable as pets:

Whatever you do, don't buy a bird eater. These spiders are large, fast, and aggressive and will only be a source of worry to yourself and your parents. Do your reading! Good luck.
